The war between the Levamme Empire and the Amatsukami Imperium has been raging for years. In the midst of this struggle, the prince of the Levamme Empire declares his love for Juana del Moral and vows to end the war in one year, as part of his marriage proposal. When the Amatsukami catch wind of this, they assault the del Moral residence, targeting Juana's life. As a last ditch effort to bring the prince his bride, the San Maltilia Airforce hires a mercenary of mixed blood—a bestado—to fly Juana to the Levamme capital in secret. Standing between Team Japan's quest for international glory is the nine-time tournament champion, Germany, and their star-studded team, pro player Jurgen Borisovich Volk at its helm. With both the momentum and the crowd's favor on the side of their opponents, Japan faces an uphill battle. Determined to avenge an earlier loss, Japan sends seven of their best—including team captain Houou Byoudouin—to challenge the German national team. But trying to reach the finals for the first time in Japan's tennis history may cause even these fearless players to crumble under mounting waves of pressure as they venture into uncharted territories.

With nine-time champion Germany vying to defend their title once more, and powerhouse nations—Switzerland, France, and the United States—determined to make things interesting, the road to victory is perilous. Although Japan is sitting at the bottom of the rankings, the addition of the nation's strongest middle school players has reinvigorated their chances at winning. Captained by the ruthless Houou Byoudouin, Japan is ready to show the world what they are capable of. However, before the real competition starts, the teams will have a chance to prove their strength through exhibition matches. As luck would have it, Japan is slated to face off against defending champion Germany—a match they are likely to lose. To make matters worse, old allies have suddenly reappeared as sworn enemies. Before Team Japan crumbles under the pressure of the international stage, they must rise from the ashes and claim the title for themselves.
